Life on Gran Canaria: Why you won't want to go on vacation anymore

But the most expensive currency is not the Kuwaiti dinar, but the time and Deer. This is Slow Travel Kora, where we don't collect touristy photos, but a completely new version of ourselves.

Las Palmas local life
Sustainable world travel

In 2021, after lockdowns, I couldn't wait to be on the road again – I was full of restlessness, longing: I wanted fresh experiences, true freedom, and a ton of nature – not just in Insta stories.
I pressed the Factory reset. I liquidated everything, put my belongings in storage, and was left with a single 20-kilogram suitcase. By then I had already lived in Porto, Berlin, and London, but now I needed something completely different. So, as if preparing for a weekend, I blindly bought a ticket to Gran Canaria – with zero prior knowledge. It was supposed to be a three-month volcano tour, but a total Life audit He let go. You know that feeling when your system throws up an error message? Well, that's where I was. I needed distance, digital detox, and real connection.

It was the beginning of the journey. And a new life storytelling.

Gran Canaria Slow Travel
San Nicolás, which you also need to see

In the post-pandemic chaos, only the consulate in Tenerife helped me navigate how to travel at all. I received my second vaccine on the last day, and the next day I was already on a plane. Tenerife North Airport, then south, followed by a short flight to my island. I rented a car and headed for the mountains – after all, I came for nature.

Based on 5 years of experience, I'll show you what real life is like in Gran Canaria.
Forget the touristy photos!

Reality is unfiltered: the accommodation that looked wonderful on Airbnb turned out to be a windowless room above a biker bar, with the bathroom at the end of the garden, and instead of enjoying the sunrise, I could have enjoyed the bikers' breakfast. I stood there, almost in tears.
But that's the point. The Slow Life It starts with letting go of control. I went south for a week to go windsurfing with some people, then went to the mountains for a month, where I was the only one not retired. Finally, I landed in Las Palmas. I've been living here ever since: a place where the ocean isn't just background noise, but becomes your everything.

Mint a helyiek – A belső transzformáció

After a month, the traveler énem meghalt. Elkezdtem szigetlakó lenni.

  • The market and the cafes: I didn't look at TripAdvisor, but rather where the locals sit.
  • The language: For half a year I just pointed, and after a year I was even dreaming in Spanish.
  • The community: It my girl you are my child, even if you are seventy years old. It's okay (It's okay) Calmness is not learned politeness, but part of their DNA.
The capital of the Canary Islands
Are you ready for a new adventure?

They never leave you alone; everyone is part of a big family. The locals, interdependence, and spirit – it's all part of Canarian daily life. Here, the enjoyment of life, freedom, and openness are truly present. 🌈

Exploring Gran Canaria

Why do you want this too?

Because you've had enough of the superficial. People want a deeper experience today—some call this Mystic Outlands (A misztikus határvidék) utazásnak. Ez az önkeresés, a meditáció és a természet erejének a keveréke.
A digitális zajtól mentes, tiszta jelenlét tere.

The recipe is simple:

  • Slow down Stay in one place for at least a month.
  • POV: Digital Nomad Work from the beach, but don't just stare at your laptop.
  • Before/After: Look at who you were when you started, and who you became by the time you learned a new language and a new rhythm.

Starting a new life abroad

The freedom of anonymity is the new luxury. You remain a stranger in a foreign land, but there lies your greatest strength: you can be whoever you want to become.

Néha tényleg elég egyetlen bőrönd és egy adag kíváncsiság ahhoz, hogy rájöjj: az élet a komfortzónád határain túl, az Út tiszta élvezetével veszi kezdetét.

Life on the island
No filter: Calima – the African dust

Beyond the Island: It's not just a place, it's a decision

The world is divided into two: those who watch the change, and those who watch from a rock as the old world becomes obsolete.
Let's abandon the Mars mission and return to earth, to the place where the aroma of salty mist and fresh coffee lingers.
